Objectives
The new Longwood Center medical complex in Boston includes two point supported canopies with stainless-clad outrigger framing. The tapered North canopy at the building entrance is 97′ x 13′ at its deepest point. The East canopy is 14′ 6″ x 10′ 5″. Bellwether designed the point supported glazing and stainless steel cladding for the project.
Approach
Bellwether coordinated with architectural and installation teams to deliver a point supported system with custom pedestal standoffs, that could be delivered quickly and installed efficiently.
Results
The point supported canopies at Longwood Center present a strong statement at the building entrance, with a floating glass surface atop a bold stainless frame.
