Objectives

Our objective for the Drexel Library at St. Joseph’s University was to create an all-glass entry with 28-foot-tall glass entry walls ,.integrated vestibules, and all-glass doors.

Approach

The design-build professionals at Bellwether worked closely with the architect and the installer to solve structural challenges while achieving the architectural aesthetic. We designed and engineered the insulated point supported walls with glass fin structural supports. We also created custom vestibules to integrate with the structure of the wall and seamlessly incorporated electronic door openers. The interior vestibules are anchored to the glass fins and a tube steel structure.

Results

All-glass point supported walls and vestibules create a dramatic entrance to the Drexel Library. The main walls are supported by monolithic glass fins. Oversized, trapezoidal lites and acid-etched lettering add to the building’s distinct aesthetic.
